God, Me & the Zone

I find myself more and more wanting to play Guitar Hero. The truth is, I find that when I’m playing and I let go of all the distractions around me, I get zoned. Really though, it feels like a gift from God playing through my fingers and into the rhythm on the sound. I’m not play the game anymore… I’m experiencing relationship time with God.

A Lesson of Dew’ing

Today my son asked me for something to drink. His usual request would be for me to give him something like flavored water but, we were out. So I said, “You can have a bit of my Mountain Dew.” He said ok. I grabbed the bottle and poured some in his cup. He drank a little and said, “mmm - Dad? Can my brother have a cup of it too?” I replied, “Why don’t you just give him some of yours?” “‘Cause he might drink all of it.”, he said. I looked at him and said, “Son, don’t worry… if your brother drinks the rest of it, I’ll give you more to drink.” He got this smile on his face and said, “OK!!” and off he went to share his drink with his brother.

(Hit continue for the rest of the story)

As I watched him give his cup to his brother, I realized the lesson he had just learned. If you are willing to freely give whatever you have to someone else… even if it’s all you have, God is willing to freely give it back to you. Over the last 8 years of my life, I’ve lived by that principle. It hasn’t been easy. But I have to think that if I’m willing to share more of my Dew (which I so enjoy) with my son because he was willing to share what little he had with someone else… how much more can a perfect God like Father be willing to do the same for me? So the lesson is, don’t be afraid to share what you have…  trust God and just Dew’ it.  (reference)

was keeping his mouth shut, but…

My friend aubreysanchez wrote a nice op-ed piece on Christians and their reactions to his post on Obama. It’s worth reading… please check it out! Here’s an excerpt:

Well, since my last post, things have gotten a little weird. Not just weird, but sad.  I guess b/c my last post mentioned Obama, the Christian community freaked out. After posting, I immediately received an im with Barack Obama’s name spelled upside down.  I tried to have a conversation, but there was no conversation, just hate. [Continued… ]

Recent Twitbles as of 10/2:

Is your faith as fruitless as that ol’ fig tree Jesus came up to? ( James 2:15-17 )

Do you wonder of those who say “I’ll pray for you” how many were actually in the position to help you? ( 1 John 3:16-18 )

Do you consider the Bible your lifeline? What if it was suddenly outlawed? Is the Word of God also written on the tablet of your heart?
( 2 Corinthians 3:3 )

Is Christianity intolerant? It seems to me we’ve compromised allot in the name of “Please don’t hate us!” I know I’m guilty. How about you?
